JANUARY

Trout season re-opens and weather permitting, fishing for them can be very good. Sheepshead start coming in.  Fishing for Redfish in deep water canals can be good.  You will find Snook in warmer water in canals.

FEBRUARY

Trout fishing should be in full swing.  Snook season re-opens soon.  This is the coldest month of the year, so there are not many bathing beauties on the beaches, but it beats shoveling snow.  Sheepshead should be abundant around pilings and bridges.

MARCH

The beginning of great spring time fishing.  White bait should start showing up mid-month and the Redfish and Snook really start picking up.  A few early Tarpon may show up.  Good Trout fishing continues.

APRIL

Now we are really in full gear.  Redfish, Snook, Trout, and Tarpon really get on the bite if warm weather favors us in the passes.  Try large Whitebait and Pass Crabs for Tarpon.  Redfish and Trout are around Mangrove Islands.

MAY

All of the above plus Sharks.  This is a month you really want to be on the water.  Whitebait, Shrimp, Pinfish and cut Ladyfish will help you fill your limit.

JUNE

Another great month to fish for Redfish, Snook, Trout, Sharks and Mangrove Snapper and Tarpon.

JULY

Redfish fishing is still very good.  Fish for Snook out on the beaches.  Tarpon will be out in the bays and on the beaches.  Lots of Whitebait around.  Sharks aplenty.

AUGUST

Yes, it is hot, but so is the fishing with a lot fewer fishermen to beat you to your spots.  Fish early in the morning and late in the evenings.  Take plenty of bug spray.  Try top water lures early in the morning.

SEPTEMBER

The cool down hasn’t begun yet and Redfish begin to school up into schools of 50 to 200 fish.  Get out early and look for schools.  Set up in front of the direction they are going and hold on.  Fish will be extra large.  Whitebait, Shrimp and Gold Spoons.  All other species are still around.

OCTOBER

Redfish schooling in full swing.  Snook will be coming back off the beaches and heading for mangrove island  points.  Best baits are Whitebait and Shrimp.  Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish will be in the passes.

NOVEMBER

If you are not deer hunting, this can be a great month to catch big Redfish and Snook.  Trout are still around, but the season is closed.

DECEMBER

This can be an interesting month.  If weather is mild and warm, it can be a great Redfish month.  Fish big shrimp, fresh or frozen, around deep water boat docks or potholes in the bay.  Trout and Snook seasons are closed.
